Salisbury University President Carolyn Ringer Lepre announced in her Tuesday Report today that three SU faculty members are recipients of 2025's University System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents Faculty Award for Excellence.
Professors Echo Leaver and Erin Stutleberg were both recognized with the Award for Teaching, and Professor Deneen Long-White was recognized with the Award for Public Service.
Leaver is an Associate Professor of Psychology at SU. She earned her doctorate in Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and now teaches Introductory Psychology, Physiological Psychology and Human Neuropsychology.
Stutleberg earned her PhD in Curriculum and Instruction: Critical Literacy and English Education at University of Minnesota in 2016 and now teaches undergraduate and MAT secondary English education courses.
Long-White earned her PhD in Medical Sociology at Howard University in 2012. She now teaches Health Behavior, Principles of Epidemiology and Unequal Burdens in Health.
There are five different categories of acknowledgement for the USM awards: Teaching, Public Service, Mentoring, Creative Activity and Research. The Faculty Awards are the highest honor presented by the Board of Regents for all faculty members within the USM.
This is the third year in a row that three SU faculty members are recognized by USM's Board of Regents Awards. Last year, Professors Hong Yao, Alexander Pope and Timothy Stock earned the award for Excellence in Mentoring, Public Service and Teaching, respectively.

In 2023, Professor Jeni Davis earned the Award for Excellence in Teaching, Professor Corinne Pubill earned the Award for Excellence in Public Service and Professor John Wesley Wright earned the Award for Creative Activity.
