Since August, a mysterious yet beloved cat has been making his presence known across Salisbury University's campus—Perdue Cat.

As their name implies, they are frequently spotted around the bushes at the Perdue School of Business, capturing the attention of students and faculty alike.

Many students have heard about the cat through the social media app YikYak—a pseudo-anonymous app popular among college students. One user posted a photo of the cat with the caption “he has emerged from perdue.”

During their time here on campus, Perdue Cat has become an icon for many students, like Zoe Bohensky.

“He’s definitely a sight I would want to see a lot, like I get excited… it’s definitely something I look forward to seeing,” she said.

Perdue Cat is well-treated here on campus, with them having a regular supply of food and water outside of their home in the bushes.

Although they are well-loved, some students have concerns regarding their health and safety.

The main concern among students is regarding the cat's housing situation. Zoe would like to have someone take in and care for the cat.

“I feel like they [Salisbury University] should maybe get the shelter involved or somebody to get him, especially because it was so cold before. I felt really bad because it was snowing and and he was there.”

While there is reason for students to be concerned, Perdue Cat appears to be in good health, with a well-groomed coat and an alert, curious demeanor.

Over the past two semesters, Perdue Cat has become a well-loved figure here on campus, and gives students a moment of respite among a very busy day-to-day schedule at Salisbury University.
