Fun fall festivities

“Ocean City is in its off season, so now I’m bored.”

If you ask Salisbury University freshman Clayton Levy, there is no doubt that one of the main appeals to SU is its close proximity to Ocean City, yet when the leaves change color and temperatures drop, the last thing students want to do is spend a day at the beach.

“I need a place to celebrate fall,” Levy said.

Now that October has officially arrived, SU students are eager to embrace the chilly weather, colorful leaves and autumn adventures the month presents.

Of course, no one knows better than what to do here in Salisbury, than the upperclassmen.

One of the most obvious activities that is perfect for fall is to go outside and appreciate the vibrant colors of the leaves.

Emily Cox, a senior at SU, says her favorite part about fall is the changing of the leaves.

“I love to go to Pemberton Park,” Cox said. “It’s beautiful in the fall and a good place to walk around and crunch on the leaves.”

If students are looking to do more than just enjoy the new fall scenery, going to a pumpkin patch is a national trademark for the month of October. More likely than not, pumpkin patches contain a large variety of pumpkins, corn mazes and hayrides.

“Go to Adkins Farm,” Cox said. “It’s a quick drive and a nice place to go with friends, or your ‘bae’”.

What most students crave during the month of October is a good scare. With Halloween just around the corner, one of the best places to go this fall is a haunted house.

“The Parsonberg Fire Departments does this haunted hayride every year,” Luke Downes, a sophomore at SU and Salisbury local said. “Two years ago they had clowns with chainsaws and zombies coming out of a pond, it was terrifying.”

Even without the sun and the sand, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy fall in Salisbury.
