Following two outbreaks of tuberculosis (TB) during the 2014-2015 school year as well as precautionary screenings being needed at the beginning of this semester, Salisbury University has rethought its requirements for new students coming on campus.

Now, U.S. students who will be taking classes on SU’s main campus or affiliated campuses must receive two doses of the Measles-Mumps-Rubella vaccine, one dose of the Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine, as well as complete an online TB risk screening found on a secure Student Health web portal.

For students living on campus, students must get two doses of the Meningoccal (Menigitis) vaccine.

Nursing and other health professional students, students over the age of 26 and international students have a few additional requirements and suggestions.

In order to get treatment at Student Health Services on campus, students must complete a consent for treatment form on the Student Health web portal.

If students are under the age of 18 when at SU, in order to get a vaccine or treatment at Student Health Services, a parent or guardian must print out a consent form, sign it, and return it to Student Health Services by fax at 410-548-4101, email at studenthealth@salisbury.edu, or mail at 1101 Camden Ave, HH 180, Salisbury, MD 21801.

Likewise, a privacy practices form on the web portal must be completed.

If new students fail to complete the health requirements by July 15 for the fall semester (fall of 2016 being the earliest) or Jan. 20 (Spring 2016 being the earliest), a 100 dollar immunization late fee, delay in housing check in, or possibly  delay in course registration may be implemented.
