As Punkin Chunkin returns for the first time in two years at a new location, SU students will likely flock to the event, but there are a few new rules that are attached to buying tickets this year.
On the World Champion Punkin Chunkin website, which advertises the Nov. 7-8 event at the Dover International Speedway, along with prices for single, two-day and camping tickets, has an extensive list of items not allowed at the event.
Many of the items are typical, such as no illegal or unauthorized vending, no illegal substances, drugs, or drug paraphernalia and no knives or weapons, but others are much more unusual, especially regarding the history of the event.
At the top of the list, Punkin Chunkin requires that no outside food or beverage items are to be brought in, including no alcohol, flasks, ice or icepacks. Likewise, no coolers, glass containers, umbrellas, tents, chairs, sports balls, cans or cups.
Personal items such as eye drops, sun screen, pepper spray, bug repellant, or bags, purses or backpacks larger than 16’x16’x8’ will be allowed at the event, either.
